Signs That You Need New Roofing

Signs That You Need New Roofing

Not many people think a whole bunch about their roofing until a challenge occurs. Whether it is as a result of storm, age, termites or some other reason, the covering above your home could sustain damage that you may not realize has occurred. Here are some of the signs you need to be on the lookout for which could tell you when you might need a replacement, says Local Records Offices.

When Should You Look to See if you Need New Roofing

You should look at your roofing at least twice a year during the spring and fall. Start inside your own home by grabbing a flashlight and going to your attic. Look for spots where it might be sagging or leaking. Look for any dark spots or trails and verify if any outside light is actually coming through, says Local Records Office. Termites are another things to keep an eye out for, termites are known as the silent killer because most of the time it’s detected when it’s too late.
When you look outside, check for buckling, algae development, rotting, blistering, curling, or shingles that might be missing, says Local Records Office. You may not think algae growth is a problem, but it is in fact common in humid climates. In case you see any greenish or darkish stains, you could have a challenge.

Here is What to Look for

Look for not only missing shingles, but also any shingles that might be bald, cracked, or torn. Check for any loose material, or indicators of wear around your pipes, chimney, or vents. If you see many granules from your shingles as part of your gutters, which is an indication your covering is very worn. You should also hunt for any other indications of moisture. Be aware, however, of the belief that the moisture may not be directly under your shingles. It might travel farther down before it truly is visible. If this is true, you need to call a professional as early as you can because bacteria and mold can begin forming in as few as a day. Read more here.
